Louise Morgan Solomon

Tybee Island-Louise Morgan Solomon, 84, was born in Newington, GA, July 12, 1922. She was the third of seven children born to the late Claude and Sally Morgan of Newington. Louise passed away October 30, 2006 at Memorial Hospital in Savannah, GA.

After growing up in Newington, Mom moved to Savannah. While working at the Walgreens Soda Fountain, she met and married Theodore Solomon, who was stationed at Hunter Field. Shortly after their son Sheldon was born and at the end of World War II, they returned to Dad’s hometown of Chicago, IL. While there, their daughter Diane was born and they started and operated a dry-cleaning business. In 1980, Mom and Dad retired to Tybee Island where Mom was active in the Optimist Club and American Legion Post 154, Women’s Auxiliary on Tybee Island. Mom was a member of Chapel by the Sea Baptist Church for twenty-five years serving in the choir and teaching Sunday school. Preceding her passing were her brother and sister-in-law, C. Edwin and Vera Morgan of Savannah; brother, Charles C. Morgan of Newington; sister, Ann Morgan Pitts of Newington and grandson Jason Solomon of Tybee Island.

Surviving are her husband, Theodore Ted Solomon; son and daughter-in-law, Sheldon Shell and Nancy Solomon, all of Tybee Island; daughter and son-in-law, Diane and Emmett Salinas of Scottsdale, AZ; sister, Lois and her husband Bruce Sheppard of Savannah; brother, Wilbur and his wife Jo Morgan of Newington; sister, Maeree Morgan Persons of Tybee Island; grandson, David Solomon and his wife Theresa of Pflugerville, TX; grandson, Joel Solomon and his wife April of Tybee Island; granddaughter Jennifer and her husband Greg Kustudia of Scottsdale, AZ; grandson, Gabriel Solomon and his wife Heather of Hummelstown, PA; grandson, Jeffrey Salinas of Monrovia, CA; step-grandsons, Gary and Kenny Conleay; step-granddaughter, Carlin Conleay; 14 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

Visitation: 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., Thursday, November 2, 2006 at the Islands Chapel of Fox & Weeks Funeral Directors.

Funeral Service: 10:00 a.m., Friday, November 3, 2006 at Fox & Weeks Funeral Directors, Islands Chapel with Reverend James Jones officiating.

Burial: Greenwich Section of Bonaventure Cemetery.
